Jesus Lizaso (Baracaldo 1961), winner of the Lorenzo the Magnificent Gold Medal, in sculpture, at the Florence Biennale 2011, inaugurated his exhibition “Cubes and Spheres in honour of Piru Gainza” at the Athletic Club Museum Hall.
In this exhibition Lizaso presents his works created for the International Piru Gainza Tournament that has been played in Basauri since 1999.
For the first time and to honour Piru Gainza, the artworks that the artist has created during the last eleven years for said championship inspired by this legendary red-white player are on display.
On this occasion expressly, Jesus Lizaso has redimensioned two of the original trophies, with the aim of demonstrating these creations’ true sculptural nature. Oil paintings and silk screen prints make up this display, revealing the restless character of this artist, who is not satisfied with practising just one artistic discipline.
As of tomorrow, Thursday, 21 June, this new exhibition can be contemplated at the Athletic Club Museum.
