Functions

The delegate is Athletic Club's representative inside the team, so much so that they should perform their duties in such a way that the Club’s interests are safeguarded at all times.

The delegate must have extensive knowledge of the Regulations and of all the rules and procedures necessary so that the match can go ahead in accordance with the official parameters.

On the understanding that the previous parameters are general, on the other hand two kinds of delegates can be differentiated: the team delegate and the pitch delegate, both of them having specific functions throughout the match. Nevertheless, when it has to do with a match played at home, these duties are combined with the same delegate carrying out the duties of both posts; functions that at the same time include multiple tasks such as those relating to the welcoming of the referees and the rival team, and making sure that everything takes place within the normal parameters of a football match and the rules set down by the Federation.

In the away games two variations may exist, one of them concerning a match to be held without the need of staying overnight and the other concerning a match or tournament where the team is required to spend the night or nights.

To these typical functions of any football team delegate, in the Athletic Club organization, other functions of an internal nature must be added.
